Holiday season is wonderful, but it can be stressful as well. I know many of you are rushing to finish their projects, gifts before Christmas and I am one of you. My mistake is that often I start really big projects ahead of a time (as I think) and then I realize I am not even close to an end while Christmas is just around the corner.
This year I decided to change things! I am not doing any big projects for gifts, like blankets, sweaters, cardigans. Unless it is a baby sweater. Instead I’ll be making a bunch of hats, mittens and scarves. Those things are always needed and most of the time they are very well appreciated. Socks are great too, but we’ll speak about it another time! 🙂
Inspired by my decision I needed to create a new hat design. While testing some of my ideas I finally came up with this design – Winter Garden Beanie. The texture of this hat is wonderful. It will look great on kids and on adults too. It is fun to make and hat turns out pretty thick and will be very warm as well.
But a great hat needs a great pair of mittens, right? And so Winter Garden Mittens happened too. My daughter once picked Drops Sky yarn in two different colors and asked me to make her two colored mittens. So for her pair I used Drops Sky yarn. They turned much lighter than my other mittens, but they are super soft and for our mild winters they are just perfect.
